Kid Governor Cristiano Makes Call for Entries for Statewide Poster Contest to Promote Physical Activity

  • On April 2, 2024

Kid Governor Cristiano Almeida is committed to promoting physical activity and ensuring that every fifth grader in Connecticut is taking steps to be physically active. To achieve the second point of his Getting Fit 4 Fun platform, Kid Governor Cristiano and The Connecticut Democracy Center are teaming up with the Department of Children and Families and CT Family Day on a statewide poster contest! Cristiano invites fifth graders across Connecticut to submit artwork that shows ways their family stays physically active. The submission deadline is Monday, April 1, 2024.

The poster contest is the second point of Kid Governor Cristiano’s three-point platform. He is looking for artwork to inspire people to stay physically active. Submissions will be reviewed by Kid Governor Cristiano, his Cabinet, and the Department of Children and Families. Together, they will select twelve contest finalists and one winner. The contest winner and finalists will be announced in May 2024 and each will receive a pass for a free tour of Connecticut’s Old State House in Hartford, home of the Kid Governor® program!

“The poster contest is an excellent opportunity for Kid Governor Cristiano to engage the fifth graders he represents in his platform,” says Olanrewaju “Ola” Olamuyiwa, Connecticut’s Kid Governor® State Coordinator. “It’s also a creative way to get young people involved in addressing important community issues.” The finalists’ posters will be shared with schools and facilities across the state and on Kid Governor Cristiano’s blog.  The winning artwork will be displayed in the Kid Governor’s Office at Connecticut’s Old State House.
