The mission of the Connecticut Democracy Center is to inspire people of all ages to engage in civic life and strengthen their communities.

We envision a society where everyone is empowered to participate in our democracy. We believe that volunteerism is woven into the fabric of civic engagement. By volunteering with the CTDC, individuals can feel empowered knowing they are supporting their community in a meaningful way.

Volunteer Opportunities

Our greatest need for volunteers is serving as judges for the various History Day contests held throughout Connecticut. Judges play a vital role in supporting students as they showcase their historical research, critical thinking, and presentation skills.

Whether you are an educator, historian, professional, or simply someone with an interest in history and learning, we welcome your participation. No prior judging experience is required, and training materials are provided.

For more information about judging responsibilities, contest locations, and contest dates, please visit the link below. We encourage you to explore the opportunities available and consider becoming a History Day judge.

Thank you for helping inspire and support the next generation.
