HARTFORD, CT – The Connecticut Democracy Center (CTDC) is pleased to announce Travelers has signed on as a Platinum-Level Community Partner supporting The Connecticut Democracy Center’s efforts to provide meaningful and award-winning civics education programs statewide. Founded in 1998, The CTDC is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization inspiring people of all ages to engage in civic life and strengthen their communities.

“The Connecticut Democracy Center created the Community Partners Program to better convene and connect our local business community. Our partners’ investments support many of our great programs, like Connecticut’s Kid Governor® and Connecticut History Day, along with several meaningful CTDC events and programs. Having Travelers on board at the Platinum Level represents their commitment to private and nonprofit sectors working together to nurture better civic health within our communities. We’re tremendously grateful and look forward to building upon our strong relationship in the future,” said Matthew S. LaCoille, Ed.D., Director of Development.

The partnership aligns with Travelers long-held belief that a healthy private sector depends on durable and reliable public institutions. The company established its Citizen Travelers initiative to better provide resources and support to help employees learn more, engage in American democracy as informed citizens, and make an impact within their own communities.

“At Travelers, we believe that a vibrant democracy and a thriving community go hand in hand,” said Janice Brunner, Group General Counsel and Head of Civic Engagement at Travelers. “Our partnership with The Connecticut Democracy Center reflects our commitment to fostering civic engagement and strengthening the communities we serve. By supporting innovative programs that bring civic education to life, we’re investing in our state’s future and helping to create an informed and active citizenry – essential elements for the long-term vitality of both our democracy and our business.”

The Connecticut Democracy Center offers students K-12 experiential learning opportunities focused on civics, elections, research, writing, debate, and public speaking. Programming for all ages includes year-round workshops, lectures, and family-friendly events hosted at Connecticut’s Old State House. The Community Partners Programs provide businesses and organizations a convenient way to align themselves and support the mission of The Connecticut Democracy Center.
